Programming is an essential part of FTC robotics. Programming allows for control of the robot and movement of it's parts using the controllers. It is the "instructions" given to a robot. When you press a button and something happens, it is because of programming. Being a crucial part of robotics, and to a larger extent, STEM, programming requires talented programmers who use tools such as the android studios to write the code for the robot. Although programming may seem difficult in the beginning, there are many programs to help one learn how to program and how to transfer that program to functions on the robot. While programming, it is important to keep in mind that there are many different languages you can use. They each have unique pros and cons but all of them have similar fundamentals.
CAD
CADing is an essential part robotics. It allows us to create the design of our robot and give us a blueprint for our robot which we could follow. It allows for a planned approach to the building of our robot and benefits us further by allowing for advanced preparation. Preparation is crucial to making a good robot and to many things in life. Preparation allows for better splitting up of the work as all parts can be done at once without needing to know the previous basis for your work. All in all, CADing allows for better teamwork, better preparation and a better robot.
